May Book Haul!

Hey guys! A couple days late, but I had family visiting from out of state until Tuesday and making sure I had a post for Wednesday completely slipped my mind! At least I didn't miss a week completely... 🀷 Anyways, here's a list of the books that I got last month! There are 15... πŸ˜‚

  1. Saving CeeCee Honeycutt  Saving CeeCee Honeycutt by Beth Hoffman - Got this one from a thrift store! I don't read many contemporaries or adult books, so I'm excited to see if I'll like this one!
  2. Olivia Twist Olivia Twist by Lorie Langdon - I got this book in May's Once Upon a Bookclub box by CrateJoy! I had money from my birthday, so I decided to try this box out and oh my gosh, I loved it! It's so unique and a lot of fun! I actually just finished this book last night and I'll have a review up for it soon! πŸ’—
  3. Serenity Serenity by Keith R. A. DeCandido - My dance studio was having a used book sale and this was one of the books I found and I honestly snatched it up as quickly as possible. πŸ˜‚ I literally gasped out loud when I saw it, guys. πŸ˜‚
  4. Fahrenheit 451 Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury - I tried reading this book about four years ago and I just couldn't get into it. But I didn't really like classics at all back then and I don't think I gave it much of a chance. Now that I'm older, I've found that I enjoy all of the classics that I've tried so far, and I'd really like to see what I think of this book now!
  5. A Necessary Deception (The Daughters of Bainbridge House #1) A Necessary Deception by Laurie Alice Eakes - Okay, I love this cover, guys! I'm really in a historical fiction mood thanks to Olivia Twist and Fawkes (my current read) so I'm excited to read this one!
  6. An Abundance of Katherines An Abundance of Katherines by John Green - Confession: I have never read a John Green book... πŸ™ˆ I own The Fault in Our Stars, but I haven't read it yet. This one sounded cool, so when I found it at my dance studio's used book sale, I grabbed it!
  7. Looking for Alaska Looking for Alaska by John Green - Basically the same explanation for this one as An Abundance of Katherines. πŸ˜‚ Though I actually think that I meant to pick this up from my library a few years ago and I never did... I basically only grabbed it for that reason and the fact that it's a John Green book. Hopefully, I like his books... πŸ˜‚
  8. A Lion Among Men (The Wicked Years, #3) A Lion Among Men by Gregory Maguire - This is the third book in the Wicked Years series and I own books one and two, so I was happy to find this one! Now I only need the last one and I'll have the entire set ready for me to read!
  9. The Silmarillion The Silmarillion by J. R. R. Tolkien - Okay, I tried reading Lord of the Rings when I was younger and I just couldn't get into it... I read The Hobbit and The Fellowship of the Ring for school and had to force my way through them... But, again, it was a time where I did not like classics. I've heard a lot of really good things about the Silmarillion, so I figured I might start here with my second attempt at the series!
  10. The Ultimate Hitchhiker's Guide: Five Complete Novels and One Story (Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, #1-5) The Ultimate Hitchhiker's Guide by Douglas Adams - I am in love with this edition! 😍 I'm not sure if I'll like the story or not yet, but I haven't read a lot of sci-fi, so we'll see!
  11. Promise Me Promise Me by Richard Paul Evans - I've only read the Michael Vey series by this author so far but my mom loves his adult books and I plan on picking them up at some point! At least some of them are based around Christian stories, so I'm really curious to read those especially!
  12. Suzannah Strikes Gold Suzannah Strikes Gold by Elaine L. Schulte - Sadly this is the third book in this series, but I'm hoping I can read it without reading the first two first... I might end up getting the others from the library just in case, but we'll see. πŸ˜‚
  13. Daniel Colton Kidnapped Daniel Colton Kidnapped by Elaine L. Schulte - This is the fourth book in the series, so at least I have two consecutive ones! πŸ˜‚
  14. Lost and Found Lost and Found by Carolyn Parkhurst - I honestly don't even know where or when I got this one, but I just discovered it when I was cleaning up and decided that I wanted it, so I added it to my book haul. πŸ˜‚
  15. Cotton, Cornbread, And Conversations: 50 Adventures In Central Georgia Cotton, Cornbread, and Conversations by Suzanne Lawler - This book was written and published in my hometown, so I'm excited to see what kind of stories are in it. πŸ˜‚

Alright, that's my May book haul! If you've read any of these books, let me know in the comments!

April Book Haul!

Hey guys! I just realized that I uploaded the wrap-up and the book haul out of order this month, but it's okay. πŸ˜‚ I only got two books in April and I honestly forgot that I got them last month... πŸ˜‚ This is why I add all of my books to Goodreads the day I get them...

Normally, I would explain where I got each book listed, but seeing as I got them the exact same way at the exact same time, there's really no reason to, so I'll just explain here! I won these two books from a giveaway ran by Storygram Tours on Instagram along with an amazing bag, some temporary tattoos, and a set of headphones! Reclaiming Shilo Snow was just released a month or so ago so I'm really excited to read these two!

I know this was a bit of a strange post, but hopefully, you enjoyed anyway! If you've read this series, let me know your thoughts below!

March Book Haul!

Hey guys! I meant to post this last Wednesday, but last week was insane and I completely forgot to finish this one up. 😝 On the bright side, only one more month and I will be officially done with high school for the rest of my life! πŸŽ‰ Of course, then I have college in August, but we'll ignore that!

I got 16 new books last month! I would say that I really need to go on a book buying ban, but all but three of these were bought by my parents, so I really couldn't argue or complain. πŸ˜‚

  1. Carve the Mark (Carve the Mark, #1) Carve the Mark by Veronica Roth -  Honestly, the main reason I bought this book was because of We Can Be Mended in the back of the book. πŸ˜‚ But it's also really pretty and I actually do want to read it, plus it was a pretty good deal! Yesterday was actually the release day of the second book - The Fates Divide - so I might get to this one soon!
  2. The Giver Quartet Omnibus The Giver Quartet by Lois Lowery - I was seriously so excited when my dad came home with this one! He found it at a thrift store for a couple of dollars in like-new condition! It's probably one of the prettiest books on my shelves. πŸ˜‚
  3. The Silver Needle Murder (A Tea Shop Mystery, #9) The Silver Needle Murder by Laura Childs - For some reason, I actually enjoy these little adult mysteries, so I thought I'd try this one out. That's really my only reasoning. It doesn't take much for me to get a book. 🀷
  4. The Charlatan's Boy The Charlatan's Boy by Jonathan Rogers - I really like the cover of this one! And it sounds really interesting, so we'll see!
  5. Daughter of Deep Silence Daughter of Deep Silence by Carrie Ryan - And now for my monthly Dollar Tree buys. πŸ˜‚ This book was absolutely gorgeous, so of course it was mostly a cover buy. But it sounds really cool (it's a mystery/Titanic-sounding book) so that sealed the deal!
  6. Seeker (Seeker, #1) Seeker by Arwen Elys Dayton - The second Dollar Tree buy. Also a cover buy with an interesting-sounding plot. πŸ˜‚
  7. Geek High (Geek High, #1) Geek High by Piper Banks - So, the rest of these books were bought all at the same time and I got them all for less than $20 and this is why I love thrift stores. πŸ˜‚ This book sounded cute and (possibly) relateable, so of course I bought it.
  8. Lost Bullet (Traces, #2) Lost Bullet by Malcolm Rose - Okay, teenage forensic scientist. As a high school student taking (and loving) Forensic Science for her final science course, I obviously had to get it. πŸ˜‚ Unfortunately, I didn't realize until after I bought it that it was the second book in the series, so I'll have to get the first from the library!
  9. Pretty Little Liars (Pretty Little Liars, #1) Pretty Little Liars by Sara Shepard - I own a few of the other books in this series and I needed this one eventually if I want to try out the series, so I grabbed it when I found it!
  10. Shadow Wolf (Wolves of the Beyond, #2) Shadow Wolf by Kathryn Lasky - I tried reading this series when I was younger and never really got into it, but I decided I would try it again since I never really gave it a chance!
  11. Twilight: The Graphic Novel, Vol. 1 (Twilight: The Graphic Novel, #1) Twilight: The Graphic Novel, Vol. 1 by Stephanie Meyer - Just... Don't judge, okay? πŸ˜‚ I haven't read the Twilight series yet (even though I own all of the books) and I decided I might as well add this to the collection until I decide whether I love it or hate it. πŸ˜‚
  12. To Catch a Prince: To Catch a Prince & The Frog Prince To Catch a Prince by Gillian McKnight - Okay, this one sounds really cute! I'm actually really excited to read it. The synopsis reminds me of a Hallmark movie. πŸ˜‚
  13. Sent (The Missing, #2) Sent by Margaret Peterson Haddix - I already own the first in this series, so I decided to get this one so that I can go straight to it when I start the series.
  14. The Name of This Book Is Secret (Secret, #1) The Name of This Book is Secret by Pseudonymous Bosch - I loved these books a few years ago and never finished the series! So I thought I'd try finishing it sometime.
  15. Little Men: Life at Plumfield with Jo's Boys (The World's Best Reading) Little Men by Louis May Alcott - I was seriously so happy to find this one! It's so pretty and I don't own Little Women or Little Men, so now I have one, at least!
  16. Gulliver's Travels Gulliver's Travels by Jonathan Swift - This one is gorgeous too, and it's on my TBR, so I was really happy to find it!

Alright, that was my March book haul! What was an awesome book that you bought last month? If you've read any of the above books, tell me what you thought!

February Book Haul!

Hey guys! So you know how in my last post I said that I was on a roll and hopefully didn't jinx myself? Well yeah, apparently I did... πŸ˜‚ School has been a jerk... But I'm going to try to stock up on posts for the next few weeks so it won't happen again! That being said, I got 16 books this month! More than I planned, but I only bought a few of them, so it's okay. πŸ˜‚
  1. The Clockwork Three The Clockwork Three by Matthew J. Kirby - I read this book four or five years ago when I got it from the library and I remember really enjoying it but I can't really remember what all happened, so when I found it at a thrift store, I bought it out of curiosity to read it again and see if I still enjoy it. πŸ˜‚
  2. The Humming Room The Humming Room by Ellen Potter - My dad found this one at a thrift store and bought it for me, thinking it would be something I would like. It's got a bit of a ghost story-type feel to me, which is something I don't read much of, so we'll see how this goes! I really like the title's font, though. πŸ˜‚
  3. Uglies (Uglies, #1) Uglies by Scott Westerfeld - I've had Uglies on my TBR for a while now and just hadn't gotten it from the library yet. But I found this copy at my local used bookstore so I decided to just go ahead and get it! Plus, if I don't like it, I can take it back and get half of my money back in store credit for a different book, as long as I keep the sticker on the back. 😁
  4. Dawn Undercover Dawn Undercover by Anna Dale - I found this book at my used bookstore as well and thought it sounded cool. I'm on a major spy kick right now. I'm addicted to the Gallagher Girls series by Ally Carter at the moment. It's seriously so good, guys. πŸ˜‚
  5. The Fool's Girl The Fool's Girl by Celia Rees - This book is based on the Shakespeare play Twelfth Night and my best friend said the play was absolutely amazing so I am really curious about this book! I'm expecting humor since Twelfth Night is a comedy, but we'll see how it goes!
  6. A Court of Mist and Fury (A Court of Thorns and Roses, #2) A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas - Since I got A Court of Thorns and Roses for Christmas, I thought I'd go ahead and get this one since it was only $8 so that I would have it when I need it. Which is hopefully soon, considering I really want to read this series. πŸ˜‚
  7. Battle of the Beasts (House of Secrets, #2) Battle of the Beasts by Chris Columbus & Ned Vizzini - I read the first book in this series a few years ago and liked it but never grabbed the second book when it came out. But this book... was a dollar at my Dollar Tree. A dollar, guys. This is a pretty popular series too, so I was shocked. And therefore I bought it because I have no self-control. πŸ˜‚
  8. Battledoors: The Golden Slate Battledoors: The Golden Slate by Brian Wilkinson - Okay, this book, along with the next three, are e-books that I have received for review on Netgalley.com and will be reading/reviewing within the next few months. I was actually shocked that I received this book, much less the other three. πŸ˜‚ I'm a pretty small blogger who's just now starting their blog back up and my Instagram doesn't have thousands of followers like a lot of others, so I wasn't expecting much, but I guess in order for me to get a good reputation on Netgalley, some people have to give me a chance and I'm really happy about it! 😁
  9. Olympian Challenger Olympian Challenger by Astrid Arditi - Another review book; I'm super excited for this one! It's Greek mythology, guys. Right up my alley. πŸ˜‚ It sounds really cool and I really can't wait to read it!
  10. Song of Blood & Stone (Earthsinger Chronicles, #1) Song of Blood & Stone by L. Penelope - This. Cover. 😍 I swear, it's absolutely beautiful, and I kind of wish I had a paper copy of this just so it could sit on my shelves and be shone off. This is actually the first one of the four that I'll be reviewing since it comes out on May 1st, so I'll be reading it either this month or the next!
  11. Fawkes Fawkes by Nadine Brandes - I think this was the review copy that I was the most surprised about receiving... πŸ˜‚ I honestly was not expecting this one at all since I'm a pretty small blogger right now, but I was so excited when I got it. I seriously squealed. πŸ˜‚ My friend Sierra also received a copy and is already almost done with it and she's shared some really good quotes that make me even more excited to read it! Plus, that cover! 😍
  12. The Flight of the Silvers (Silvers, #1) The Flight of the Silvers by Daniel Price - And now, of course, the other monthly Dollar Tree buys. I'm pretty sure this is going to be an ongoing thing now that there's a Dollar Tree right next door to my acting/youth building... πŸ˜‚ It's very unsafe for a book dragon with absolutely no sense of self-control when it comes to book buying. But I'm sorry if a book is a dollar or less and in brand new or like new condition, I'm going to buy it, even if it only sounds vaguely interesting. Again, no self-control. πŸ˜‚ But this book looked really cool and it sounds kind of A Wrinkle in Time-esque based on the synopsis, so we'll see!
  13. Jack of Ravens Jack of Ravens by Mark Chadbourn - Okay, last Dollar Tree buy of the month, I swear! πŸ˜‚ I honestly can't even remember what this book is about... Obviously, it sounded interesting if I bought it, so we'll just say that it probably sounds really cool and the cover is epic. πŸ˜‚
  14. The World of the Hunger Games The World of the Hunger Games by Kate Egan - My dad came home from the thrift store one day with this little piece of amazingness, and I am seriously so excited to read it. πŸ˜‚ I can't wait to see what it says and what it's actually about because the synopsis is kind of vague... But it now has a position with the actual Hunger Games trilogy in my library. It should feel very proud of how far it has come. (Oh my gosh, I'm so weirdπŸ˜‚)
  15. The Neverending Story The Neverending Story by Michael Ende - I was totally not expecting to get any more books after The World of the Hunger Games, but when I got home from acting practice last Monday, my dad hands me this and asks if I've ever heard of it. Now, I've seen this movie so many times because my brother and his daughter are addicted, and when I found out that it was a book, of course, I added it to my TBR. But I was not expecting my dad to say that he looked it up online and found out that it's a $50 book. 😱 I don't know about you guys, but I always get super excited whenever I find a rare or expensive book and even if this book wasn't on my TBR, I probably would have kept it because it's so pretty! It's illustrated and the text is colored and there's a pattern beneath the dust jacket... πŸ’—
  16. Rain in the Morning Rain in the Morning by Flo - This is another book that my dad found at a thrift store and considering I don't own a single book of poetry, I felt especially inclined to keep it. πŸ˜‚ I'm not entirely sure how this book was distributed because there's no ISBN number or barcode or anything for it to be sold... So maybe it was sold by the author/artist or it was given away or something? Either way, it's a book full of poems and drawings describing Tanzania and I'm really excited to read it!

Well, that concludes my book haul for the month of February! If you've read any of the books above, let me know in the comments!

First Book Haul of the Year! Jan. 2018

Hello again! It's time for my first book haul of the year! Thankfully, it is drastically smaller than last month's, but it's still a whopping 13 books. πŸ˜‚ Only half of them were from thrift stores this time, too... πŸ˜‚ But on to the books!

  1. The Fall (The Seventh Tower, #1)  The Fall by Garth Nix - So, this author sounds really familiar to me, but I can't at all remember why... And obviously, I was too lazy to look and see what else he writes. πŸ˜‚ Maybe I'll figure it out by my next post. The Fall is the first book in The Seventh Tower series and it sounded pretty cool and was super cheap at my local thrift store (plus my dad was paying) so I bought it. πŸ˜‚
  2. The Society of Unrelenting Vigilance (Candle Man, #1)  The Society of Unrelenting Vigilance by Glenn Dakin - Let me just say, I had no idea this was the actual name until I went to add this book to my Goodreads. πŸ˜‚ The cover literally says nothing at all about "the society of unrelenting vigilance", just "Candle Man", which is actually the name of the series. πŸ˜‚ The actual title isn't revealed until you open the book to the title page where it is there before you written in a very pretty font. I'm actually pretty happy that that's the title because I like it a lot better than Candle Man. πŸ˜‚ At least the cover told me that it's book one. That's the important thing.
  3. Flambards  Flambards by K. M. Peyton - Honestly, the main reason I got this book was because... horses. πŸ˜‚ Horses are one of (if not my absolute) favorite animals and I love reading books about them, even though it makes me want one of my own even more... According to this cover, it's considered a classic? 🀷 I'd never heard of it until I found it at a thrift store, so... πŸ˜‚
  4. Swindle (Swindle, #1)  Swindle by Gordon Korman - This wasn't exactly a series that I planned on reading, but Gordon Korman is basically an auto-buy author for me. From what I can remember, I've loved absolutely every one of his books that I've read so even though I'm not sure about the storyline, I have very high expectations for this book. πŸ˜‚
  5. The Frog Princess (Tales of the Frog Princess, #1)  The Frog Princess by E. D. Baker - I've owned the second book in this series for years and when I was around 13 or 14, I got this one from the library. But for some (pretty stupid, now that I think about it) reason, I stopped reading it because of like, one sentence that the mother says in the very beginning of the book about romance or something... I was 13... I'm a homeschooled, kind of sheltered, Christian girl... I'm sure I'm capable of trying this again now. πŸ˜‚
  6. Caraval (Caraval, #1)  Caraval by Stephanie Garber - I am so excited for this book!! πŸ˜‚ I found it in the bargain section at Books a Million for like, 7 dollars (😱) and they had a "buy 2, get 1 free" sale going on their bargain books... So I was super excited. I bought this for my best friend last year and honestly, I almost kept it for myself. πŸ˜‚Needless to say, I was really happy when I found that they still had some copies. This is supposed to be a buddy read with two of my friends soon, so I can't wait to see how it is!
  7. Wuthering Heights  Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte  - This was the "free" part of "buy 2 get 1 free". πŸ˜‚ My parents got me this absolutely gorgeous Wuthering Heights coloring book for Christmas and I realized that I should probably actually read the book before I start coloring in it. What's bad is that I barely even know what this book is actually about... So I guess I'll find out when I read it. πŸ˜‚
  8. Once Again: Once Upon A Time Omnibus Snow/Beauty Sleep  Once Again by Liz Braswell & Cameron Dokey - I saw this book at Walmart sometime last year and thought it sounded really cool, but I'm pretty cheap and stingy with my money unless something's a great deal, so I didn't get it. But BAM! had it as one of their bargain books so I finally got to grab it! I love fairytale retellings so I'm really excited for this one, and it's so pretty! 😍
  9. The Fever Code (The Maze Runner, #0.6)  The Fever Code by James Dashner  - I have waited forever to get this book because I own the entire series in paperback... So I had to get this one in paperback too. πŸ˜‚ Two of my best friends and I are actually starting a buddy read of this tomorrow, so I'm excited to get back into this world! Confession: I haven't actually read all of the books yet... πŸ™ˆ But I already know the main parts of how it ends because at first I didn't plan on finishing the series, so I let my friend tell me... And now that the movies are all finished, I really want to binge the series this Summer!
  10. Drums of Change Drums of Change by Janette Oke - Okay, I actually already own a copy of this book in another edition... My dad found it at a thrift store and bought it for me, not knowing that I already had it, and I just really love it and don't really want to give it away... But I also don't want to get rid of the other edition because it matches my set... So maybe I'll have two copies of this?? I already own two copies of A Gown of Spanish Lace... πŸ˜‚πŸ€·
  11. One Dark Throne (Three Dark Crowns #2) One Dark Throne by Kendare Blake - Did you know Walmart occasionally has signed copies?? Up until a couple of months ago, I didn't. And then I found this... A signed first edition... And even though I have yet to read the first book, I bought it anyway. I have a weakness for signed copies. πŸ˜‚
  12. The Book Jumper The Book Jumper by Mechthild GlΓ€ser - Even though this book was full price at BAM!, I couldn't help but get it... It's just so pretty and I've been wanting to read it for a while... (P.S. I sincerely apologize for the way I probably butchered this name in my upcoming book haul video on my YouTube channel, but I honestly have no idea how you pronounce this...πŸ˜‚)
  13. The Reluctant Assassin (W.A.R.P., #1) The Reluctant Assassin by Eoin Colfer - And finally, a book that I actually completely forgot was on my TBR on Goodreads until I got home, but it was on sale for 5 dollars and it's about an assassin in the Victorian era, so I had to get it! πŸ˜‚ The Reluctant Assassin is the first book in the W.A.R.P. series and I'm super excited to read it!

Well, that's it for this post! If you see any books that you've read, are currently reading, or even want to read, let me know in the comments along with what books you bought this month!
