November Wrap-up!! (Sorry for being a month late!)

Hello again!! Happy New Year's Eve! I hope everyone had an awesome 2016! I cannot believe how busy one can be in December....I have been so busy.....I had dress rehearsal for my play, a dance recital, and two play performances all together, school is killing me, and I've been on vacation visiting family for Christmas... I know there's seriously only one day until 2017 (oh my gosh how did that happen?!), but I had this entire post typed out and just forgot to post it and it seemed a waste to not post it.....

But November was a really good reading month!! I read 14 books and enjoyed most of them! Out of the books, I read one 3 star, eight 4 stars, and five 5 stars. My absolute favorite was definitely Red Queen! Oh my gosh I loved that book! And my least favorite was probably The Cheetah Girls movie novelization....

November's monthly book challenge was "A Book That Intimidates Me". So naturally I picked The Kill Order because I've been slightly afraid to read it because of the content, but I did it! December's challenge is "A Book I Own But Have Never Read"! And I have decided to read Four by Veronica Roth! I actually just finished it today! I have wanted to read it for so long but I've just never gotten to it...And now that there's a sequel coming out with the pre-order of Carve the Mark (which one of my best friends is getting and letting me borrow), I'm really in a Divergent mood so I chose the perfect month to read it!

I'm definitely planning on doing my monthly challenge again next year! I randomized the prompts on my phone, so all but a few of the prompts are different from this year and I have an idea of the books I wanna use for each month! Now, on to the books!

Also, oh my gosh I just figured out how to put emojis on my blog posts!

  • Oct. 6th/Nov. 2nd - The Little White Horse by Elizabeth Goudge. My friend Abby bought this book because she absolutely loves the movie that's based off of this book, and because I love The Secret of Moonacre too, she let me borrow it! It wouldn't have taken me almost a month to read it, except for the fact that I was distracted by other books that I needed to read. I'm pretty sure I prefer the movie, though that may be because I saw the movie multiple times before reading the book, but I did really like the way everything turned out in the end of the book! I wasn't a fan of how young the characters were when they got married, but it does coincide with the time it was based in, so I don't mind too much. I ended up giving this book 4 stars!
  • 3rd/5th - The Thief Lord by Cornelia Funke. I had seen the movie that's based on this book somewhere and thought it sounded really good but never got the chance to watch it (and still haven't)! I bought this book with birthday money this year and I'm very glad that I bought it! I absolutely loved the kids and I just wanted to hug all of them from the very beginning...😂 I was surprised that this book had magic in it though....there were rumors of magic in the beginning, but I didn't really expect the rumors to be true and it didn't really seem to fit most of the story line of the book to me... I did enjoy it though (as the 376 pages read in two days would suggest...😂) and I gave it 4 stars on Goodreads!
  • 5th - Three Cheers for Keisha (Magic Attic Club - Book 4) by Teresa Reed. I love the Magic Attic Club books.....I actually have the Rose and Alison dolls that my parents gave me when I was younger along with some of the books. I haven't read many of the Keisha books, but this one was very good and I really should read more of them some time... I actually forgot that I gave this one 5 stars.... This is why I have Goodreads pulled up in a separate window to look back on for dates and ratings!
  • 6th/8th - The Wedding Planner's Daughter by Coleen Murtagh Paratore. If you're ever in the mood for a lighthearted little love story, then this book would most likely be a really good choice! The writing was definitely different from what most books are like... I liked how there was a quote from a book or poem at the beginning of each chapter! I gave this one 4 stars!
  • 13th - The New Kids (Shugo Chara - Vol. 5) by Peach-Pit. This is the first book in the series so far to get a rating lower than 4 stars... It had a cute story, but I felt like it was a major filler book and didn't really move the story line along. This one got 3 stars.
  • 14th - Betrayal (Shugo Chara - Vol. 6) by Peach-Pit. I feel kind of ashamed that I can't remember what happened in this book.....I think I remember some of the main things based on the title.....😂 Anyways, this one got the usual 4 stars....
  • 14th - Inuyasha Vizbig Edition Volume 5 (Inuyasha - Vol. 13, 14, and 15) by Rumiko Takahashi. Rin finally came in in this one! It was so good! I honestly can't believe I managed to read it in a day though..... 562 pages..... The magic of manga...😂 I gave this one 5 stars!
  • 8th/14th - Red Queen (Red Queen - Book 1) by Victoria Aveyard. Oh my gosh I cannot believe how much I absolutely loved this book! It was so hard for me to stop reading whenever I opened it! And that ending threw me off so much....was not expecting that plot twist....I can't wait to read Glass Sword and I hope it will meet my expectations! In case you couldn't tell, this one got 5 stars...😂
  • 15th - Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium : Movie Novelization by Suzanne Weyn. It felt like I was rewatching the movie the entire time I was reading this...😂 I gave it 4 stars.
  • 15th/16th - The Cheetah Girls : Movie Novelization by Deborah Gregory. I have learned that I don't really like movie novelizations if I've seen the movie multiple times.... They're seriously word for word with no description at all....I really only gave this one 4 stars because The Cheetah Girls is one of my favorite childhood movies...
  • 16th/18th - The Sun Trail (Warriors : Dawn of the Clans - Book 1) by Erin Hunter. So my friend Shelby is reading the Warriors series for the first time (she's currently on the second New Prophecy book) and since we'd been talking about it so much, I got the idea that I wanted to reread the entire thing.....from the prequel series all the way through until I got completely caught up......Don't know if I'll actually do that...but I'm going to try!! I'm pretty sure this is my third time reading this book? I love this series so of course it still gets 5 stars from me!
  • Black Cat (Shugo Chara - Vol. 7) by Peach-Pit. This one is probably one of my favorite volumes in the series so far! Multiple parts of this one made me laugh... I really need to work on finishing the series soon considering I have volumes 8-12 sitting literally in front of my face on my bookshelf right now! 😂 That being said, this book still didn't make me think "oh my gosh this is one of my absolute favorite books!" so it received 4 out of 5 stars as well.
And finally...

  • Desert Dancer (Phantom Stallion - Book 7) by Terri Farley. Still continuing my series-long buddy read with my friend Sierra! I loved this one too and of course it got 5 stars!

Alright, that's it for now! My December Wrap-up along with a 2016 Wrap-up kind of post will be up (hopefully) within the next few days! Happy New Year!

New Books!! Woot Woot!!

Okay, yes I totally just said "woot woot"..... But I really love getting new books!!

So, my dad found three of the books at a thrift store last week! On the top is The Emerald Atlas by John Stephens! It's the first book in the Books of Beginning trilogy! I've read it once before as an e-book from my library last year or the year before, but I can't remember anything about it....XD Not to mention I absolutely love the way the pages are in this book! (They're the uneven pages like parchment or something! I absolutely love books with pages like that!) The two books in the middle row (from right to left) are Plain Pursuit and Plain Proposal by Beth Wisemen! Plain Pursuit is the second book and Plain Proposal is the fifth book in the Daughters of the Promise series! I don't have any more from the series, but to my knowledge they're standalones so it should be okay! I haven't read an Amish book in a while, so it should be interesting seeing if I still enjoy them or not!

The three books in the bottom row I found today when I went to Goodwill with my parents! On the left is The Tale of Despereaux by Kate DiCamillo! I saw the movie last year (I think) on Netflix and I found it for 50 cents at Goodwill so I figured I'd buy it and see how the book is! I own the movie novelization version of this and I've never read it....I actually didn't even know that it was an actual book until today....XD The book in the middle is Puzzle in Patchwork by Roberta Updegraff. It's the twelfth book in the Church Choir Mysteries series published by Guideposts! I actually really like these books....they're Christian mysteries that I can get through pretty quickly and I enjoy them a lot! Finally... On the right is Jealousy by Jessica Burkheart! It's the seventeenth book in the Canterwood Crest series! I own, have read, and reviewed (Link here! Review! Take the Reins by Jessica Burkheart (Canterwood Crest - Book 1)) the first book and I'll probably get the other books from the library...

Well that's it for this post! These books came at a very good time since I wasn't sure what to post this weekend! Until next time!

October Wrap-up!!!!!

Hello again! I'm actually remembering to post!!! This is technically a day or two early, but with the books I'm currently reading right now, I will definitely not be finishing either one by tomorrow night.....XD I joined a book club with my school that "meets" (on the computer) twice a month!! And I'm now a book club helper, so I'm excited!

So, I apparently had a pretty busy month this month because I only read 8 books and 4 of them I could literally start and finish each one in a day... But at least the books I read this month were good! Five of them were 4 stars and the other three were 5 stars!

October's reading challenge was to read " A Book That I've Read at Least Once" and I may or may not have jumped at the chance to read The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan (aka the first book in my favorite series) for like the 4th, 5th, or 6th time.... (I may or may not have lost count of how many times I've read it....XD) Next month's challenge is "A Book That Intimidates Me" and so far I plan on reading The Kill Order by James Dashner, but I'm not positive so it may change.....

  • 5th - Who Do You Want to Be? (Shugo Chara - Vol. 1) by Peach-Pit. I borrowed this one from my friend Shelby again so that I could refresh my memory before I read book 4. 4 stars once again, and still as good as I remember!
  • Sep. 14th/Oct. 5th - Valkyrie (Valkyrie - Book 1) by Kate O'Hearn. I bought this book in May with a birthday gift card and actually read it this month....XD I actually have a different cover than the one shown in my collage, but that's the one Goodreads decided to give me when I saved the pic....XD I really enjoyed this book and am very excited for the next one! I gave it 4 stars!
  • 6th - Friends in Need (Shugo Chara - Vol. 2) by Peach-Pit. Borrowed this one to refresh my memory also! I enjoyed it and it still has 4 stars!
  • 7th - Can a Bad Guy Turn Good? (Shugo Chara - Vol. 3) by Peach-Pit. Same as volumes 1 and 2! XD 4 stars!
  • 8th - Character Swap! (Shugo Chara - Vol. 4) by Peach-Pit. I actually read a new one!! This one was very good and it got 4 stars! I borrowed volumes 5, 6, and 7 from Shelby so I'll hopefully read them in November!
  • 11th/18th - Throne of Glass (Throne of Glass - Book 1) by Sarah J. Maas. Oh. My. Gosh. I loved this book from the very first sentence! I enjoyed it so much and I'm really hoping to get the whole series for Christmas this year, because I borrowed this one from Shelby for my book club and I hated giving it back....... In case you couldn't tell, I gave Throne of Glass 5 stars! The cover in the picture is actually different from the one I read and I absolutely love the design of the copy I read!
  • 19th/23rd - Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children (Miss Peregrine's Peculiar Children - Book 1) by Ransom Riggs. This was another book for book club! I actually read it for a book club with my friends a couple of years ago and wasn't a big fan, but I bought it this time because I wanted to reread it anyway and I actually liked it a lot more this time! I actually gave it 5 stars this time around!
  • 23rd/29th - The Lightning Thief (Percy Jackson and the Olympians - Book 1) by Rick Riordan. I don't think I even need to write a review for this one anymore.........we all know I gave it 5 stars....XD
Well that's all for this month!! I'll be making another post either tonight or tomorrow talking about a giveaway I'm doing on Instagram (I'll be posting my Instagram name on the side bar of the blog!) so stay tuned!

And the Worst Book Blogger Award Goes To.....

Me.....Unfortunately....I have been really bad about remembering to post....Between vacation, school, drama, and dance I completely forgot that this blog existed for a bit.....But I'm going to try very hard to get back into posting once a week (probably on the weekends)! So here's an update for the past 4 months....

In June I read 10 books! One 3 star (The Sea of Monsters : Graphic Novel by Rick Riordan), four 4 stars (Our Strange New Land by Patricia Hermes, Zodiac by Romina Russell, The Queen's Army by Marissa Meyer, and Against the Tide by Tui T. Sutherland) , and five 5 stars (Dark Sunshine by Terri Farley, The Renegade by Terri Farley, Half-Blood by Jaye L. Knight, Scarlet by Marissa Meyer, and The Isle of the Lost by Melissa de la Cruz)! Scarlet was my book for my June prompt which was "Book chosen for me by a friend" which was chosen by my friend Sierra! (Technically Zodiac could fit into that prompt too as my friend Shelby got me to borrow it from her and read it!) I can't decide if my favorite of the month was Half-Blood or Scarlet....I absolutely loved both of them!!

In July I read 7 books! One 3 star (Descendants : Junior Novel by Disney), three 4 stars (Pretty Lady of Saratoga by Deborah G. Felder, Inuyasha - Volume 1 by Rumiko Takahashi, and The Clone Codes by Patricia C. McKissack), and three 5 stars (Free Again by Terri Farley, Rise and Fall by Eliot Schrefer, and The Challenger by Terri Farley)! Technically the book I planned to read for the July prompt, which was "A book that was published before I was born", didn't get read....however I ended up reading Pretty Lady of Saratoga which was published a year before I was born so I still succeeded!I honestly can't pick a favorite out of these....XD

In August I only read 2 books.....that was a very busy month for me though....I seriously started drama, dance, school, and went on vacation all in the same month... Please Don't Tell My Parents I'm a Supervillain by Richard Roberts and Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll were both 3 stars! I read Alice's Adventures in Wonderland for the August prompt which was "A book that was/is banned".....let's just say that it is a very...interesting....book....XD My favorite of the two was Please Don't Tell My Parents I'm a Supervillain! While I wasn't a fan of the amount of romance between a couple of 13 (if that) year olds, I really liked the fact that the book was from the POV of villains instead of heroes!

Finally, in September I read 6 books! I actually only had one 4 star book (The Princess Diaries by Meg Cabot) and the rest (Dragonspell by Donita K. Paul, Return to the Isle of the Lost by Melissa de la Cruz, and Inuyasha - Volumes 2, 3, and 4) were all 5 stars! I read the Princess Diaries for the September prompt "Book I previously abandoned".  My favorite was Dragonspell! It was so good!!!

~~~~~~
Also, I joined a bookclub with my school this month and the first meeting is on Friday!!! They apparently decided last month (I hadn't joined yet) to read Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas and even though I doubt I'll finish it by Friday as I started it on Monday, I decided to try and read as much as I could (thankfully Shelby owns it!!) and so far I am in love!!! I haven't enjoyed a book this much in a few months!! I absolutely love that Celaena is the type of person that falls in love with a library out of the whole castle and stays up until 4 in the morning even though she has to get up early the next morning!
Okay! All caught up!! I'll try to post weekly from now on!!!
New Books From Books a Million!!
My books came in today!!!! I was so impatient all day long waiting for them to be delivered! And even though they were sent in two different boxes from two different states, they got here at the same time because one arrived a day early! I should not be set free with giftcards to book stores......eleven books in less than a week....XD
On the top left is The Demigod Diaries by Rick Riordan which is a book of short stories and things for the Heroes of Olympus series. I've already read it before a couple of years ago but I definitely plan on reading it again soon because I don't remember it very much....and I just bought it so I kinda have to read it at least once....XD
On the top in the middle is The Throne of Fire by Rick Riordan. It's the second book in the Kane Chronicles so I finally have the whole set!!!! I love the colors in this cover! Although my favorite cover is The Serpent's Shadow... Again, I've read this one once before but I plan on rereading the trilogy again soon!
Top right is The Apprentice's Quest by Erin Hunter. This one is the first book in the new Warriors series, A Vision of Shadows, and I can't wait to read it!!! I wasn't expecting another series at all and I was sad because I wanted to know what happens after The Last Hope! And I found it for 10 dollars in hardback and it just came out in March so I'm really happy I found it!
Bottom left is Cinder by Marissa Meyer, the first book in The Lunar Chronicles. I've read this one twice, and since I have to wait a while to get Winter in paperback, I'll probably end up reading it again....there's a short story in the back that I plan on reading soon though! I found this one on sale for 5 dollars and I was so glad!
Middle on the bottom is Cress by Marissa Meyer, the third book in The Lunar Chronicles! I am so excited for this book!! My friend Sierra has told me how amazing it is so many times, and after Scarlet my expectations are really high now! And I got it for 7 dollars which I was really excited about!
And finally, on the bottom right, is The Thief Lord by Cornelia Funke. I first heard about this book when I found the movie somewhere and thought it sounded really good before noticing it said it was based off of a book by an author that I knew XD I've been wanting to read this book for a while now and every time I've looked for it at my library it's always checked out so I found it on Books a Million's website and went ahead and bought it! It's smaller than I expected, but I still can't wait to read it!!!
Okay, that's it for this one, but my review of Scarlet will be up soon!!
New Books From Barnes and Noble! With a Slight Rant at the End...... (Newly Updated)
Okay, so as the name of the post says, this is part partying and part ranting...... My cousin Lainey gave me a 20 dollar Barnes and Noble giftcard for my birthday and since Barnes and Noble is pretty far away from us, I went online and picked out five books - two books and a box set with the first three in the series. The box set came in on Friday and the other two books came in yesterday!
I bought Rogue Wave by Jennifer Donnelly, which is the second book in the Waterfire Saga, and I can't wait to read it! I loved Deep Blue so much! I also got The Unwanteds, Island of Silence, and Island of Fire by Lisa McMann, books 1-3 of the Unwanteds series. The Unwanteds was a suggested book in a book club my friends and I used to do, but we ended up choosing another book and I was really interested in this series!
 Finally I got Inheritance by Christopher Paolini which is book 4 in the Inheritance Cycle. I still have the entire series to read before I reach this one.....XD Unfortunately, when I opened the box that contained Rogue Wave and Inheritance (The Unwanteds was shipped seperately), there was absolutely no packaging to keep the books from being tossed around during shipping (they were shipped to Georgia from New Jersey) and Inheritance's cover was cut, along with the first three pages having an indent from whatever cut it. It looks like they cut it with a box cutter or something when opening the box of books and they paid zero attention to the fact that this one was damaged when they packed it. I was so angry yesterday...... I've bought books from Amazon and received them slightly damaged (to the point where I doubt I'll be ordering books from Amazon again as both times the books were presents) but this is a bookstore. I expect a bookstore to package their books correctly so that they won't be damaged during shipment, and to make sure they're not damaged when they put them into the box. I plan on going to the Barnes and Noble store sometime this week to take this copy back and get a new copy.
In order to end this post on a happier note, I still had my 50 dollar Books a Million giftcard from my birthday last month, and I ordered six books on their website yesterday!! Hopefully these are all delivered safely!! I can't wait to get them!! I'll also be posting a review sometime this week! Maybe even tonight if this storm keeps up......
UPDATE : The only had three copies of Inheritance at the store and they were all banged up and I wasn't about to have them order it again, I just got my money back..... which means no Inheritance for a little while.....
Review! Zodiac by Romina Russell (Zodiac - Book 1)
Oh my gosh I haven't written a review since January...... 0.0 I need to actually get into writing these again! So anyways, I borrowed Zodiac from my friend Shelby about 3 or 4 months ago and I finally got into the mood to read it about two weeks ago.... After reading this book in a week, I felt like it really deserved a review since I had so many different emotions about this book....to the point where I'm going to try a new setup using pros and cons this time (I actually made a list for this book)... XD
Zodiac
About the book - In a galaxy where your sign determines which planet you call home, Rho, the young Guardian of Cancer, must find a way to unite the divided Houses of the Zodiac before an ancient evil destroys them all.
But who will believe anything this young novice says? Whom can Rho trust in a universe defined by differences? And how can she convince twelve worlds to unite as one Zodiac?
Pages - 439 plus 9 pages of the second book (Wandering Star)
Genre(s) - Young Adult, Science Fiction
Age range - 16+ (for adult content and violence)
POV - First person - Rho - Age 17 - Main character
Stars - 4/5
Pros
  • I loved the personalities of the characters that you really get to know, and even some of the ones that you don't get to know too well.
  • It was really interesting learning about the different ways that each Zodiac runs, (Ex. democracy, monarchy, etc.), and learning about the way the people look and act. I liked that each Zodiac had a different way of greeting each other!
  • Can I just point out a single character as a pro? Cause if so, Mathias Thais. That's all I'm saying. Hysan is nice too, but Mathias is amazing!
  • I loved Hysan calling Mathias names... I'm pretty sure "lady of robes" was my favorite....XD
  •  This may be a really weird pro, but I was really amused by Hysan and Mathias pretty much hating each other the entire book.... XD
Cons
  • I've gotta say that this book started out with a really strong Divergent feel.....Rho said some things that reminded me of Tris, Mathias reminded me (and still does) strongly of Tobias (not to mention their names rhyme...), and at first the different planets reminded me slightly of the factions or maybe even the districts from The Hunger Games as they each represent a different thing. However, as the book went on, it gave me less and less of a reminder of Divergent.
  • There are multiple references to drugs and a few references to drinking throughout the book.
  • Throughout the book, it seemed as if it barely went a few chapters without people dying....it did help the story line progress, but there were multiple times when I texted Shelby with the words "So. Much. Dying." XD
  • Finally. there was an adult scene for about 3 or 4 pages which I skipped because I don't feel comfortable reading that type of scene. I also didn't feel like it was necessary to have this scene in the book....there are multiple other ways to comfort someone....
Complete Review
Even though there were some parts in this book I wasn't a fan of, I fully intend to read Wandering Star as soon as I can borrow it from Shelby (she's currently reading it) and I'm hoping to get it within the next coming month or so! I honestly really need the second book because of certain events close to the end of Zodiac which I (for the moment) refuse to acknowledge as true......XD
Ilyon Chronicles!!
My books are finally in!!!! Technically they came on Monday (the day they were supposed to) but I'm just now getting the chance to show them off! I love these books so much!! The outside has that amazing waxy feeling that I love! I wasn't expecting them to be as big as they are! (I've only read Resistance so far and that was on Kindle so I had no idea how big it actually was...) Resistance and Samara's Peril are almost 500 pages long! My friend Sierra and I are planning on reading them together once she buys Resistance and King's Scrolls! I'm not sure if I can wait that long though....I may have to read Resistance and then read it a third time when she's ready...XD I've been in an Ilyon Chronicles mood ever since I bought these books!
 Oh my gosh I'm so happy to have books signed to me!! And I was so happy when I saw that Resistance actually has a short message in it! I don't think you can read it in the picture, but it says "Thank you for joining me on this adventure!" and they all also say Ps. 46:10 beneath her name. :) I also really like that each book is signed in a different color so it's not exactly the same...XD
Resistance (Book 1)
Half Blood (Book 1.5,
even though I'm gonna read it first
when I read the entire series since
I've read Resistance already and I
know the character... *cough* my
favorite baby *cough*)
The King's Scrolls (Book 2)
Samara's Peril (Book 3)
In each of the books there was a bookmark either advertising a book, or an author! In Half Blood there was one for Dare by Tricia Mingerink, Resistance had Jaye's bookmark (it's my favorite and says "Faith, fantasy, adventure, and finding light in the darkness"), King's Scrolls had one for Melody Jackson (it says "These dragons are nothing like your storybooks say"), and Samara's Peril had one for A Mighty Fortress by Faith Blum!
Okay, I think I have officially gotten over my fangirling for the day......or moment.....or few measly seconds......anyways, that's it for now!
May Wrap-up!
Wow! I'm actually on time with this post!! And I actually have time to do things such as this now that I am officially done with school for the summer! (Woot woot!!)
So I read 13 books this month!! I'm really happy with that amount... I was determined to finish the book I was reading last night and I did! And I read and finished another one today! (It was only like 60 pages, but still!)
Out of the 13 books I read one 3 star book, five 4 star books, and seven 5 star books! I own 5 of them, I borrowed 4 of them from my friend Shelby, and the other 4 were library books!
May's reading challenge was "A Book Published This Year" which I succeeded in doing by reading the amazingness that is The Hidden Oracle by Rick Riordan! (OH. MY. GOSH. THE. ENDING!) Anyway, June's reading challenge is "A Book Chosen For Me By A Friend" and I'm going to be reading Scarlet by Marissa Meyer which my friend Sierra has been trying to get me to read for months! Although, I just realized Zodiac will also apply because I borrowed it from my friend Shelby (who loved it) months ago and am just now reading it....XD
  • April 30th/May 6th - Little Blog on the Prairie by Cathleen Davitt Bell. So I really did enjoy this book for the most part.... I did give it 4 stars, although I almost gave it 3 stars for the fact that after the entire book I honestly wasn't expecting the kind of intense kissing scene between a 13 year old girl and a boy at least the same age if not a couple of years older..... the whole rest of the book is clean, and then that scene was just all of a sudden there... I decided to give it 4 stars anyway since that was really the only thing and I did enjoy the book....
  • 7th/9th - Who Do You Want To Be? (Shugo Chara - Vol. 1) by Peach-Pit. So, if you couldn't tell from my little collage, I decided to try out Manga....XD My friend Shelby is a big fan of manga and anime so I borrowed the first three volumes of Shugo Chara (along with Wolf Children). It's actually pretty good, once you get used to reading from back to front and right to left..... I might borrow more of this series from Shelby, but I'm not sure yet... This one did get 4 stars though!
  • 10th - Friends in Need (Shugo Chara - Vol. 2) by Peach-Pit. Well, this one was obviously pretty good considering I apparently couldn't put it down....XD This one got 4 stars as well!
  • April 7th/May 12th - The Wild One (Phantom Stallion - Book 1) by Terri Farley. So my friend Sierra and I decided to read the Phantom Stallion series together because I've had the 1st and 4th ones on my bookshelf forever and never got to reading them and it's also one of Sierra's favorite book series and she was willing to reread them! Unfortunately I wasn't able to finish this one at the same time as her because I fell out of the mood to read it for a little while before I finally finished it like a month later... I was really upset with myself too because it's so much fun reading with someone!
  • 12th - Can A Bad Guy Turn Good? (Shugo Chara - Vol. 3) by Peach-Pit. Okay, this one was really really good! I think it's my favorite so far! It still got 4 stars like the others, but I really liked it!
  • 6th/12th - Hunted (Spirit Animals - Book 2) by Maggie Stiefvater. I really liked this one!! This one was a 5 star book! (This one was a library book!)
  • 13th/17th - Deep Blue (Waterfire Saga - Book 1) by Jennifer Donnelly. Oh my gosh this book was amazing! I wasn't expecting to love it as much as I did, but it was so good and I can't wait to read the rest of the series! I still have my giftcard to Books A Million from my birthday and I fully plan on using it to buy the last three books some time in June once the last book comes out!
  • 18th/20th - Blood Ties (Spirit Animals - Book 3) by Garth Nix. So, I've read books 1-4 in this series before, but I completely forgot an extremely important event in the ending of this book.....and it was like I was surprised all over again....and when you're a person who imagines what happens after the book you just read, it's very surprising to have to rethink things....XD I still loved this book of course and it got 5 stars! (Another library book!)
  • 19th/25th - Mustang Moon (Phantom Stallion - Book 2) by Terri Farley. I really really liked this book!! I actually think I may have liked it just a little better than the first one.....And I actually finished it on time this time!! This one got 5 stars as well! (Yet another library book!)
  • 21st/28th - The Hidden Oracle (The Trials of Apollo - Book 1) by Rick Riordan. Oh. My. Gosh. This. Book!!!!! The ending topped off everything perfectly and if I could give the ending 10 stars, I would!!! What was revealed in this last few chapters made me so happy and excited and I need the second one so badly but it hasn't even been a month yet!!!! I definitely see myself rereading this one in the near future.....XD In case you couldn't tell, this one got 5 stars!
  • 28th - Wolf Children: Ame & Yuki by Mamoru Hosoda. So this is another one that I borrowed from Shelby. She is absolutely in love with the movie and this manga and she showed me the movie awhile ago and I really liked it! The story is wonderful, but the ending made me want to cry!! It's actually about 550 pages and I read it in about 40 minutes.....(manga's are extremely easy to read!) This one got 4 stars!
  • 29th/30th - Fire and Ice (Spirit Animals - Book 4) by Shannon Hale. So along with the first book (Wild Born), this has got to be my favorite book so far in the series! I love Rollan so much and it went much further into his past and his story and by the end of the book I was so happy and sad and I wanted to hug him so badly!! I can't wait to read the next book! Thankfully I have the rest of the series (along with two bonus stories and the first three books in the second series from the library already! ^_^) Of course this one got 5 stars!
And finally......
  • 31st - Elaine and the Flying Frog by Heidi Chang. So this was a little 60 page book that I've had on my bookshelf forever and have never read so I put it in my book jar and decided to read it today! It was a very cute story! My only complaint was that I had trouble with a few of the names and one of them did take away a bit of the ease of reading whenever this character was mentioned. This book got 3 stars. :)
Well, that's it for my May Wrap-up! I love doing these posts....and now I have to wait a whole month to do it again! But I will make sure to actually post more often now that I'm off of school! I have some unfinished posts that I found so maybe if I can't think of a post, I'll finish up one of those....
Oh! And I also ordered a set of books all signed to me by the author and according to the post office website they'll get here next Monday and I am soooo excited!!!!
New Books!!!! Again!!! ^_^
  Okay, so my friend Sierra is amazing!!! I just got two new books from her for my birthday and I am soooo happy!!! ^_^ It was also an unexpected surprise because according to the post office website they weren't supposed to get here until Tuesday so it made it that much better!
  The books I got were Scarlet by Marissa Meyer, which is book 2 in the Lunar Chronicles, and it's also the book I'm going to read for my reading challenge next month (aka "Book Chosen For Me By A Friend")! The other book that I got is a signed copy of Hunt For Jade Dragon by Richard Paul Evans, the fourth book in the Michael Vey series, and I'm sooooo happy!!!! This is one of my favorite book series so I'm really glad that I have a signed copy now! (My mom laughs at how excited I get over signed copies, but I can't help it! They're amazing!!)
  Sierra also sent me Dragonspell by Donita K. Paul, which she's letting me borrow! (I'm borrowing a book from someone in another state...thank you post office!! XD) I can't wait to read Scarlet and Dragonspell and I'll probably end up rereading Michael Vey before I read the fifth book....XD
  Also making appearances in the pics are two postcards and a sticker that Sierra sent along with the books! The sticker with Scarlet says "I love horses!" (which I really do!) and the postcards are quotes! The one with Hunt For Jade Dragon says "I'd rather die of knowledge than live in ignorance." - Charles W. Chesnutt. And the one with Dragonspell says "But in reading great literature I become a thousand men and yet remain myself." - C. S. Lewis. I love them so much! They'll probably end up in Instagram pictures......
 Also, here's a little bonus pic! This is the wall next to my door! Along with keeping track of the books I'm reading on Goodreads and here on my blog, I write them on my little dry erase stickers!
New Books For My 16th Birthday!!!
Hi!! So, instead of trying to post this weekend, I'm gonna go ahead and post tonight because I will most likely have zero free time this weekend........ So my 16th birthday was last Thursday! I can't believe I'm 16 already!! I forgot yesterday for a minute...... and then I saw the picture of me with my learner's permit and remembered I got it the day after I turned 16. XD My parents took me and seven of my friends out to lunch at a Mexican restaurant and it was so much fun! So I got three new books for my birthday! Along with a 50 dollar giftcard to Books A Million, a 25 dollar giftcard to Barnes and Noble, about 50 dollars in cash, and a little stuffed animal lemur that whistles! (The lemur's name is Yoohoo XD) So the three books I got are Legacy of Secrets (Kingdom Keepers : The Return - Book 2) by Ridley Pearson, The Hidden Oracle (The Trials of Apollo - Book 1) by Rick Riordan, and The Year I Turned Sixteen by Diane Schwemm. Oh my gosh my copy of The Hidden Oracle is signed and I am so happy!!!!!!!!!! According to the person at BAM! it was the only signed copy that they got.... On Saturday my parents took me and my friend Shelby to Barnes and Noble and I spent my gift card and got three books! (The gift card only helped pay half the price....XD) I got Red Queen (Red Queen - Book 1) by Victoria Aveyard, Valkyrie (Valkyrie - Book 1) by Kate O'Hearn, and Deep Blue (Waterfire Saga - Book 1) by Jennifer Donnelly! I can't wait to read these books!!
Books A Million and Barnes and Noble gift cards!
Legacy of Secrets, The Hidden Oracle, and The Year I Turned Sixteen!
Signed copy of Hidden Oracle! Being guarded by Yoohoo!
Red Queen, Valkyrie, and Deep Blue! I'm actually in this picture!
April Wrap-Up!!
Okay......I completely and totally missed doing my March Wrap-up........ April has been so crazy and I've had absolutely no time to think about a blog post lately..... I am gonna leave the collage for March in the bottom along with a small little thing about how many books I read and what I rated the one I read for my monthly challenge......Anyway, on to April! So I read 7 books last month... I'm kind of disappointed with that amount, but April sped by super fast to me!! I seriously don't know where it went! Anyways, out of my seven (*cough* pitiful *cough*) books, I only gave one of them 4 stars and the rest of them were all 5 stars....XD I owned two of these, and the other five were from my library. (I still have 12 more books currently checked out from my library to read....) Also, I completely forgot to read the book that I originally chose for April's book challenge, (Book You Can Finish in a Day), which was one of my mini American Girl books, so I replaced it with Wild Born!
  • March 28th/April 6th - On the Banks of Plum Creek (Little House - Book 4) by Laura Ingalls Wilder. So this was one of those "I'm not in the mood for an intense drama book and I want a nice book" times....... So of course I go to Little House on the Prairie once again! (This is like the third time I've read this book I believe...) Nellie Olsen came in in this one..... Once again making me want to smack her.... XD This book will always get 5 stars from me!
  • 6th/9th - Darkness Falls (Survivors - Book 3) by Erin Hunter. Second time reading this book, and just as good as I remembered! I can't wait to read the fourth one soon!! It's being put on hold at the library ASAP! 5 stars as well! ^_^ (This one was a library book)
  • 10th/16th - Lost in Babylon (Seven Wonders - Book 2) by Peter Lerangis. Second time reading this one too....This one was so good..... Although I did notice more grammar errors than I remembered, but I didn't mind.... I laughed at them.... XD Another 5 star book! (Library book!)
  • 15th/19th - Wild Born (Spirit Animals - Book 1) by Brandon Mull. So, I chose this one to use for my "book I can read in a day" since I completely forgot about reading the American Girl book. Technically I didn't finish it in a day this time, but last time I read it I did..... XD (FYI - This is like my third time reading this book.....I love it so much....but I'm actually reading the whole series this time and I can't wait!) Anyway, naturally, 5 stars.... XD
  • 19th/21st - Demigods and Magicians by Rick Riordan. Oh my gosh I love this book.... It had art in it and I wish I owned it so badly!! I noticed things that I didn't notice when I first read the short stories on my kindle, and I love Percy in The Crown of Ptolemy so much!!! Although I still don't understand the reasoning for doing The Son of Sobek and The Crown of Ptolemy in first person POV, but not The Staff of Serapis..... I have come to the conclusion that Rick Riordan just does not like the idea of first person Annabeth.......and I'm so curious.... but I'll live.... Anyway, other than that, this book was amazing and of course I gave it 5 stars as well! (Library book too, sadly.....)
  • 21st/25th - The Tomb of Shadows (Seven Wonders - Book 3) by Peter Lerangis. Finally a book in the series that I didn't reread......even if it is only the third one......I'm pretty sure I've read The Colossus Rises three times..... (not that I'm complaining! I love these books!) But this book was so good! And I'm glad that they led up to a certain event so that you were at least a bit prepared instead of just bam! there it is and you don't know what to do for a while.... I wish more books did this.... though it might also be because I didn't particularly care about the character that was involved..... Anyway, I loved the end, and am so excited for the next one! (Which just so happens to be sitting on my bookshelf from the library waiting to be read!) In case you hadn't guessed, this was my last 5 star book for April.... XD (Library book)
And finally......
  • 25th/30th - Book Scavenger (Book Scavenger - Book 1) by Jennifer Chambliss Bertman. I was very excited for this book when I found it on the end of a row at the library not too long after I added it to my Goodreads list! I really wish that Book Scavenger was an actual game.... It would be so much fun to play! Though I probably wouldn't be very good at making codes.... It would definitely take some practice... I have to say, my favorite character had to be Emily's (the main character) best friend James.......and his cowlick Steve of course! (Yes, he named the cowlick on the back of his head.....he is a complete and total dork and I love it....XD) I look forward to the next one coming out and I gave this one 4/5 stars. (Library book)
Okay, so that's all for April! This month's reading challenge is "A Book Published This Year" and I plan on reading The Hidden Oracle (Trials of Apollo - Book 1) by Rick Riordan! I totally just got a signed copy for my 16th birthday and I'm so excited to read it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I literally hugged this book when I got it...... I'll make a post either this weekend or next weekend (This weekend is crazy, I'm in a play Friday night, Saturday afternoon, and Saturday night, and I'm going with my friends to Civil War on Sunday night! In 3D!! Woot woot! I'm so excited!!!) with pictures of it along with the other books I got for my birthday! Okay, I'll be done ranting about my beautiful books for now.... See ya!
~Allie~
BTW - So in March, I read 12 books... (6 were library books and 6 I own) which consisted of one 3 star book, seven 4 star books, and four 5 star books. I wish I had done the post for March in time because I would've loved to rant about so many of these books...... but I'll just say that Memory Maze was the 3 star book.....and this rating was mainly based on the ending which left me shocked and (only slightly) depressed...... I still plan on reading the third one whenever I can get my hands on it from the library though!
Sixteen New Books!! From Usborne, Goodwill, and Amazon!
Hello!! Sorry I didn't post last weekend! I thought about it multiple times but couldn't bring myself to actually do it.... But since I have all these new books, I had to make a post and I didn't want to wait for this weekend unless I had to! So as the title states, I got sixteen new books this week! Seven on Sunday, and nine today! On Sunday, I went with my dad to Goodwill. When we walked in, we literally walked in two different directions (book section for me of course) while saying "see you in a bit"....XD Out of two isles full of books, I found seven books, which I can't decide is a good amount or pretty small for me! Anyways, I got books from the Mysteries of Sparrow Island series which is by multiple authors. I actually own four or five more of these but I haven't read them yet. They're in my book jar though! These are Guideposts books, so they're Christian mysteries. I'm currently reading a book from another Guideposts mystery series (Church Choir Mysteries) and I'm really enjoying it, so hopefully I'll like these too! The five books that I got this time were The Prodigal Parrot (#9) by Carolyn Greene, Night Song (#16) by Susan Plunkett, Echoes from the Past (#20) by Ellen Harris, Flight of the Raven (#2) by Ellen Harris, and Nesting Instincts (#6) which is also by Susan Plunkett. I'm pretty sure I don't have to read these in order, but I guess we'll see! The other two books I got on Sunday are Stormbreaker by Anthony Horrowitz which is the first book in the Alex Rider series and Happiness is a Choice for Teens by Paul D. Meier. I really hope to read Stormbreaker soon! I've always really liked anything to do with spies so hopefully I'll like this! I was also informed by my friend Shelby that there's a movie....I may just have to see if I can find a way to watch it....after I read the book of course!!
Okay the next bunch of books are books that I ordered off of the Usborne website so that my sister could get free books for my niece! They just came in today and I'm so excited to read them!!! The ones in the top row are Minna's Quest, No Turning Back, and Far From Home by K. M. Peyton! They're part of the Roman Pony Adventures series, and as far as I know there won't be any more, but who knows! The books in the bottom row Escape from Wolfhaven Castle, Wolves of the Witchwood, The Beast of Blackmoor Bog, The Drowned Kingdom, and Battle of the Heroes by Kate Forsyth. This is the entire set of the Impossible Quest series!
Last but not least is Dauntless (Book 1 of the Valiant Hearts series!) by Dina L. Sleiman! I've had this one on my To Read list on Goodreads for about a year and now I finally own it! I get the email newsletter from Dina L. Sleiman (which I completely forgot about...) and the one today said that Dauntless was free on the kindle store so I bought it!
Alright, that's all for this post, but hopefully I'll actually be motivated to post this weekend! I'm babysitting for the weekend starting Thursday so hopefully I'll have the time too! Bye!!
Books Read In February!
Hi again! Apparently making a collage out of 17 book covers is a lot harder than making one with 9! You'd think I would've realized that.....but I think this collage came out pretty good! It started out as putting them in order from top to bottom in the order that I read them, but that changed to "put it wherever I can find room" XD And I just realized that I never announced what my 2016 Reading Challenge was for this month......I should remember to do that from now on.....Anyway, this month's reading challenge was to read a book that I've been meaning to read. There are so many books that I could've chosen for this one, but I decided on Disney Lands by Ridley Pearson, which I got from my sister and brother-in-law for Christmas. :) For this month and last month I've put the reading challenge book in the middle of my collage, so I'll probably continue to do that for the rest of them! Anyways.....on to the books! Warning : this is going to be a long post!
Okay, so I liked the setup I used last month for this post, so I think I'll do it again for this one! Four of these books were library books, three were borrowed from friends, and the rest I own! I also had 11 five star books which I'm really surprised by!
  • Jan. 21st/Feb. 2nd - Howl's Moving Castle (Howl's Moving Castle - Book 1) by Diana Wynne Jones. This one was one of the library books that I read! :D The reason this book took me so long to read is because I was going back and forth between multiple books at once (as is usually the case) and I got distracted by another one for a little while....I actually think I switched over to Pride and Prejudice so I could finish it by the end of January... Anyway! This is the second time I've read this book, (I read it for bookclub a couple years ago) and I love it so much! I have a list on Goodreads of books that I want to own some day and this one was the first one to be put on it I'm pretty sure! In case you can't tell, I gave this one 5/5 stars. XD
  • 2nd/3rd - Castle in the Air (Howl's Moving Castle - Book 2) by Diana Wynne Jones. Another library book! So, one thing I'm not a huge fan of in this trilogy is the fact that each book centers around a different set of characters....Howl and Sophie (from the first book) make appearances in all three books, and play somewhat important parts in the second and third ones, but it doesn't give much information about their lives after the first book......and I love them so much and want more info!! However, on the other hand, having different main characters was also interesting....that being said, this book had it's slightly strange parts at first but was all in all really good.....which can be proven by the fact that I stayed up until 5:30 in the morning to finish this book.....XD These books have so much going on at the end that it pulls you in and you can't set it down....by the way, I gave this book 5/5 stars also...
  • 3rd/4th - Masterminds (Masterminds - Book 1) by Gordon Korman. Another library book and another book by Gordon Korman that I loved! This is the reason he's one of my favorite authors! The second book is either already out, or comes out next month, and I can't wait till I can get it from the library! I don't know what was with me and finishing book in less than 24 hours towards the beginning of the month, but I loved it! This one got 5/5 stars too!
  • Jan. 26th/Feb. 7th - Class Dismissed by Allan Woodrow. This one I accidentally borrowed from my cousin Lainey.....XD She brought it with her one weekend while she was reading it and asked me to read to her over the weekend and then accidentally forgot it here when she left, and by then I was getting into the book so I decided to finish it before the next weekend that she came over! It was a really cute, light read and I gave it 4/5 stars. :)
  • 5th/10th - Aunt Maria by Diana Wynne Jones. I found this one at a thrift store with my dad and grabbed it because of the author....I just realized that I read four book by the same author in a month.... Anyway, I had the hardest time getting into this one at first, though I blame part of that on babysitting and trying to read at the same time....once the babysitting was over I was able to read faster...but this book was also pretty strange which didn't help my ability to get into it any. I was pretty satisfied with the ending, and the main character Mig reminded me of Sadie from the Kane Chronicles. (Which I have been wanting to reread for weeks....I've been in a huge Rick Riordan book mood lately for some reason) This one got 4/5 stars also.
  • Jan. 20th/Feb. 11th - Little House on the Prairie (Little House - Book 2) by Laura Ingalls Wilder. I can't tell you how many times I've read this book... I started reading it again because I was in the mood for a familiar story that I hadn't read in a while and this one worked! This one will always get 5/5 stars from me! :D
  • 12th - Samantha and the Missing Pearls by Valerie Tripp. Okay, so I totally remember these little stories being way longer than they are....it only took me about 10-15 minutes to read this one...but it was a really cute story and I still really like the American Girl books! This book got 4/5 stars.
  • 12th/13th - Fall of the Amazing Zalindas (Sherlock Holmes and the Baker Street Irregulars - Book 1) by Tracy Mack. I was very surprised with how much I enjoyed this book! I plan on getting the next book from the library soon and it's actually made me possibly want to read the actual Sherlock Holmes mysteries... This one was another 5 star rating!
  • 14th/16th - The Wicked Step-Twister (Church Choir Mysteries - Book 1) by Sandy Dengler. So, this one is part of a Guideposts mystery series. I haven't read very many books centered around Christianity (even though I should...), especially not a mystery, or one where all of the main characters are adults... I honestly can't even remember ever reading a book where the main character is an adult....most of the books I read consist of teenagers or younger starring as the main character. Therefore, I was pleasantly surprised that I was able to get into this story! Some Christian books I've seen have a way of sounding a bit awkward to me in the way they bring up God, like it's in the most random times where it doesn't seem to fit but the author is just trying to throw it in there and make it a point. However this book didn't do that and I believe that they came about talking about God in a very casual and fitting way for the most part. That being said, this book got 4/5 stars and I plan on reading another one of these soon!
  • 16th - Meg's Story by Susan Beth Pfeffer. This is another book that I loved when I was younger and that felt way longer back then too! I finished this one in about twenty minutes or so...I believe it took me a couple of days at least to read it when I was younger. The story was just as good as I remembered though! This one got 4/5 stars!
  • 17th - Addy's Wedding Quilt by Connie Rose Porter. This was another mini American Girl book that took me about 10-15 minutes just like the Samantha one. To be honest, I've never actually read any of the Addy books before even though I own them... My interest was never pulled to them like my favorite ones, but I plan on reading them now, so they're officially in my book jar! This one was pretty good for the first Addy book I've ever read, and it got 4/5 stars.
  • 17th - Mice of the Herringbone by Tim Davis. Yet another of my favorites from when I was younger! I loved it just as much as I did then and it got 5/5 stars. :)
  • 17th/19th - Maximum Ride Vol. 1 (Maximum Ride: The Manga - Book 1) by James Patterson. I borrowed this one from one of my best friends and this was finished in two days because I kept going back and forth between books....But it was really awesome seeing these characters in pictures! This one got 5/5 stars!
  • 17th/21st - Farmer Boy (Little House - Book 3) by Laura Ingalls Wilder. I really enjoyed this book! It seems a bit random to me the way it's in the middle of the series, but it was still very good! My favorite part of the book was the last two chapters....XD This book has 5/5 stars too!
  • 23rd - Maximum Ride Vol. 2 (Maximum Ride: The Manga - Book 2) by James Patterson. The first one took me two days to actually finish, and yet I finished this one in a little over an hour and a half.....XD 5/5 stars!
  • 21st/26th - Disney Lands (Kingdom Keepers: The Return - Book 1) by Ridley Pearson. Oh my gosh, I can't believe how much I missed these characters! I was so sad that I finished it as fast as I did, but I was also happy and super excited for the next book! (Which thankfully comes out at the end of March and I am determined to get it! I refuse to wait for my birthday!) Another 5 stars from me!
And last but not least.....
  • 23rd/28th - House of Many Ways (Howl's Moving Castle - Book 3) by Diana Wynne Jones. This book was so good!! I'm so sad that it's the last Howl's Moving Castle book though! I want more of all of the characters!!! This was the last 5 star rating from me this month! :D
Oh my gosh this post was so long!!!! 0.0 Anyways... my Reading Challenge for March is to read a book that a librarian, friend, or family member recommended to me....for now the plan is to read Memory Maze by Gordon Korman, which was recommended to me by one of our librarians, but I borrowed Zodiac by Romina Russell from my friend Shelby a couple of weeks ago so I may change it to that instead....I guess we'll see! Bye until next weekend!!
